In this article, we are going to learn about cloud computing and the basics of Google Cloud. As you are aware, the entire world’s data is moving to the cloud, it is important for us to learn about cloud computing and various cloud service providers in the market. Google Cloud has currently held the #3 position in the overall market share for cloud computing. Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure are the most popular cloud service providers.<\/p>\n

What is the Cloud?<\/h2>\n

“The cloud” refers to servers that are accessed over the Internet, and the software and databases that run on those servers. Cloud servers are located in data centers all over the world. By using cloud computing, users and companies don’t have to manage physical servers themselves or run software applications on their own machines.<\/p>\n

What is a cloud with an example?<\/h2>\n

One such example is Google cloud \u2013 It is a suite of public cloud services offered by Google. All the application development runs on Google hardware. They include Google Compute Engine, App engine, google cloud storage, Google container engine.<\/p>\n

What is Cloud Computing?<\/h2>\n

Cloud computing is a technology that uses the internet for storing and managing data on remote servers, and then access data via the internet. This type of system allows users to work on the remote. Cloud computing customers do not own the physical infrastructure; they rent the usage from a third-party provider.<\/p>\n

The architecture of Cloud Computing<\/h3>\n

In the below screen you can see the Architecture of cloud computing which consists of application, infrastructure and storage in a private data center.<\/p>\n

Cloud Computing refers to manipulating, configuring, and accessing the applications online. It offers online
\ndata storage, infrastructure and application.<\/p>\n

We need not to install a piece of software on our local PC and this is how the cloud computing
\novercomes platform dependency issues. Hence, the Cloud Computing is making our business
\napplication mobile and collaborative.<\/p>\n

There are certain services and models working behind the scenes making cloud computing feasible and accessible to end-users.<\/p>\n

Following are the working models for cloud computing:<\/p>\n

    Deployment Models<\/h3>\n

    Deployment models define the type of access to the cloud, i.e., how the cloud is located?<\/p>\n

    Cloud can have any of the four types of access:<\/p>\n

      • Public<\/strong> – The Public Cloud is open to all and to access the information and data via the internet and it is like pay per use for the services and it is managed by third party.i.e, cloud service providers.<\/li>\n
      • Private<\/strong> – The Private Cloud services are accessible within an organization. i.e, it belongs to the specific organization to access the services.And sometimes it is also called internal or corporate cloud.It is managed by the organization.<\/li>\n
      • Hybrid<\/strong> – The Hybrid Cloud is the combination and features of public and private cloud.The critical activities are performed using private cloud while the non-critical activities are performed using public cloud.<\/li>\n
      • Community<\/strong> – The Community Cloud allows services to be accessible by several groups of organizations.It is owned, managed and operated by one or more organizations in the community.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        Services Models<\/h3>\n

        Service models are the reference models on which Cloud Computing is based.<\/p>\n

        These can be categorized into three basic service models:<\/p>\n

        \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a01.Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) – <\/strong>This service offers the computing architecture and infrastructure, all computing resources but in a virtual environment so that multiple users can access them.Resources include Data storage,Virtualization, Servers and Networking.<\/p>\n

        Example– Google Compute Engine<\/strong><\/p>\n

        \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a02.Platform as a Service (PaaS) – <\/strong>This service is made up of a Programming Language Execution\u00a0 \u00a0Environment, An Operating system, A Web server and a Database.It is the environment where users can Build, Compile and Run their programs without worrying of the underlying infrastructure.<\/p>\n

        Example-Google App Engine<\/strong><\/p>\n

        \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a03.Software as a Service (SaaS) –<\/strong>It is a service that offers on demand service of pay per use of application\u00a0 \u00a0 software to the users and it is also platform Independent and also you don’t need to install the software in your system.The cloud runs the single instances of the software and it makes available for the end users.<\/p>\n
