In AWS we can create a snapshot from an existing database and restore it to create a new database. But when it comes to sharing the snapshot to a different AWS account, there is a little procedure to make this work. So here we are going to know about how to <strong>share a RDS snapshot from an AWS Account to another AWS Account<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Preparing the RDS snapshot to share<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Login to your AWS account which contains your RDS database.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Go to <strong>RDS<\/strong> and snapshots and click the Automated section, you are able to see your RDS snapshot.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Select the snapshot you want to share and click <strong>Actions<\/strong>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As you can see in the picture below, you are not able to click the <strong>Share snapshot<\/strong> button.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you want to share your snapshot to another account, you need to create a <strong>KMS<\/strong> <strong>key<\/strong> with some permissions to the another aws account.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.easydeploy.io\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/1-3.webp\" alt=\"Share RDS snapshot different account Select Snapshot\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-2185 size-full\" title=\"Share RDS snapshot different account Select Snapshot\" width=\"1877\" height=\"543\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.easydeploy.io\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/1-3.webp 1877w, https:\/\/www.easydeploy.io\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/1-3-300x87.webp 300w, https:\/\/www.easydeploy.io\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/1-3-1024x296.webp 1024w, https:\/\/www.easydeploy.io\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/1-3-768x222.webp 768w, https:\/\/www.easydeploy.io\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/1-3-1536x444.webp 1536w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1877px) 100vw, 1877px\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>Creating KMS Key<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Let&#8217;s take this account as <strong>Account A<\/strong> and the other account as <strong>Account B<\/strong>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So now we are going to create a <strong>KMS key<\/strong> and add the <strong>IAM user of Account A<\/strong>.
